Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman in the Washington, DC, metro area.
Police on Thursday said 25-year-old Andrew Joseph Smith Jr. was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, robbery and criminal threats.
The victim was walking down the street when she was approached by a man and a woman, who took turns touching her body and raping her.
The woman was able to escape with her life.
Police say Smith told police he had been watching her for a while and had been in the area recently.
He was last seen at a McDonald’s, according to a release.
Smith has an extensive criminal history.
He has a criminal record in the District of Columbia, according a release from the police department.
The police department has not identified the victim.
